just wondering why i picked up the trumpet, and thought i'd ask you lot if you naturally bonded with the instrument? and why you chose the instrument?

I think most people end up playing an instrument that either was missing from their school orchestra, or a family friend wanted them to play!
I got given a flugel horn when I was about 7 and told to blow a raspberry. I can still remember my astonishment when a noise that was almost a note came out!!

I wanted to play the horn ever since I was four and I went to a youth orchestra concert that all my cousins were playing in (they all played violin) and I looked round the orchestra and saw the horns. And they were so shiny and looked so complicated compared to the other instruments, and I thought they were so beautiful! I wasn't allowed one until I was 11 though- apparently it can damage your teeth when they're still developing. It's so unfair!! Oh well, at least I have it now!

I chose trombone because I wanted to be awkward and I wasn't allowed to play sax. I was too small for sax so they asked if I wanted to play clarinet but I didn't want to be like everyone else. So I decided to ask for trombone, the school didn't have a brass teacher at the time so they had to get one in. About 6 people started off, 2 on trombone, 2 trumpet, 1 cornet, and 1 baritone. I am the only one that has actually carried on with my instrument and music in general. Shame really...
