Roland Perrin

Biography

Roland Perrin was born in New York city and spent his childhood living in many different countries. He eventually settled in London. He has always pursued a career in both classical and jazz music, gaining a degree in music from the University of York as well as playing and recording with various jazz groups.

Roland eventually moved towards world music and has worked with musicians from Cuba, Venezuela, Colombia, Brazil, Trinidad, Jamaica, Ethiopia, Congo, South Africa, Mozambique and Nigeria. His own music reflects his wide musical taste and experience.

Songs from the cage for large choir and jazz big band was commissioned by Hertfordshire Chorus who gave the premiere at St Albans Arena in April 2002. This is Roland's largest composition with the London premier of this piece taking place at the Barbican during November 2002.
