Reps conferences in the Antipodes

Australian Reps Meeting: 2nd March 2008 - Ian Coss, Tim Arnold, Peter Baker, Joan Earle, Judy Thönell, Jessica Stewart and Carol KuchelTim Arnold, International Operations Director, visited New Zealand and Australia throughout February and March to attend representatives' conferences.

In February, Tim attended the Honorary Local Representatives’ conference in New Zealand, led by Heather Gummer, Exams Administrator and Representative for New Zealand.

“It is always such a pleasure to gather together the whole Associated Board family in New Zealand,” commented Heather. “The conference was a great chance to share ideas and experiences – the representatives’ enthusiasm and commitment is truly inspiring. It was wonderful too that Tim Arnold was able to make the long journey to New Zealand to contribute so much of his energy and knowledge, and make us feel part of a truly global organization.”

Joan Stichbury, HLR for Hastings, New Zealand, added: “It was a fabulous, friendly, informative weekend in a magical setting.”

Joan EarleA teachers’ meeting in Auckland followed, and Tim’s tour concluded in Melbourne, with a conference for all Associated Board Representatives for Australia. The opportunity was taken to make a special presentation to Joan Earle, now retiring after 17 years of service as an Associated Board Representative for Victoria.

Reporting on the whole experience, Tim said: “It was a double inspiration for me to take part in two representatives’ conferences in New Zealand and Melbourne, in February and March respectively. The dedication and enthusiasm shown at both was very exciting for me. It was a special pleasure also to thank Joan Earle. As our work with teachers and candidates continues to grow in both territories, I am especially grateful to such hard working and enthusiastic colleagues.”
