Interesting to see this thread bumped, as I had been thinking of it earlier in the day.  My progress report:

1.  Pass Grade 6 oboe with Merit (always the optimist)

2.  Practice cor anglais at least one a week (thanks OboePiano for the reminder!)

3.  Attend singing week in major English Cathedral in the summer (this has an audition to get in, so is HARD!)

4.  Learn enough tolerance to avoid killing the Bass in our choir who can't read music and has no apparent desire to do so.  :angry2:

1.  Achieved!

2.  Er, excuse me while I put the cor together and dig out the music.

3.  Passed the audition and all is booked for the course in August.

4.  OK so far, but the fella has come close to getting both barrels on more than one occasion.

Next year I am going to

Take Grade 5 piano.

Well, I've taken it. I'm waiting for the results.

Since my resolution said "take" rather than "pass" I can count it as done.

I probably won't keep them  , but here goes:

  1. At least 30 mins concentrated practice on 2 instruments on any night when I don't have other unavoidable commitments [note to self: housework, tinkering with musical arrangements and other hobbies are not "commitments".  Nor is TV.]
  2. Resist the temptation to take up any new instruments.
  3. Take Grade 3 flute.
  4. Improve my sax vibrato and agility.
  5. Study arranging techniques properly (rather than just applying "trial and error"!).
  6. Set up some kind of musical beginners tuition at the local primary.

1 - umm.... not doing too well on that one - but it was always going to be tricky!

2 - so far, so good.  I may even be heading in the other direction and deciding to ditch piano: undecided as yet.

3 - done.  (Like Clarimoo, my resolution was to "take", not "pass", so I can tick this one off despite not having had the result yet).

4 - in progress.  Vibrato is starting to feel a bit more natural.  Agility isn't showing marked signs of improvement, but I'm trying to focus on it.

5 - well, I have some books on my reading pile....

6 - this is on hold: the music co-ordinator is leaving.

To earn enough money to carry on funding the music habit, including some lessons, with a view to sitting my LTCL eventually.  :ninja:

Well, I'm earning now - my current account hasn't looked this healthy for years! Now I need to settle down into a proper routine and create time for practice  Perhaps one of those microwave beds - you know, the ones that let you have eight hours' sleep in just twenty minutes - might help!

I don't want to commit to lessons until (i) I've settled into a proper routine with time for practice; and (ii) aced my probation. Stay tuned for further updates.

Keep doing what I'm doing as it seems to be working, for my own definition of working. I'm not in a hurry. The year has been an utter writeoff in some respects but at least music was not one of them.

It's still working so I'm still keeping doing what I was doing. I'm glad I've finally learnt not to drive myself into the ground.

Saying no more often if I don't want to do something, rather than giving people the answer they want to hear. Getting better at this and am avoiding getting put upon at least some of the time!

1. To sit another theory exam.
2. To attend one music-related day course/ event per month outwith my normal groups/ rehearsals.
3. To investigate further study options.
4. To properly practise piccolo and alto flute as well as 'normal' flute!
5. To say yes to and volunteer for opportunities that come my way even if I think they're outside my comfort zone as doing this has brought me some lovely experiences this year!

I'd forgotten I'd posted these!

1. Yes, G7 passed with merit.

2. Probably not as many as one per month, but been on a few different things.

3. Working towards doing Teaching Dip in December.

4. Had lots of picc parts in orchestras so have definitely been practising that! Not so much alto.

5. Generally yes, which has led to, amongst other things, running a flute choir and organising regular performances for them :flute:
