A bit warmer this morning - no frost and after three days of shivering that is welcome.

Transferred from Pedants' Paradise thread (otherwise F#minor will get cross!)

"Why do most weather forecasters  use the phrase  ....from the word 'go' ....  . Its as if someone up there shouts 'go' and some weather type begins !"

It was almost as though this happened this morning. We were forecast snow at 8 am and snow at 9am on the weather app, and at 8am precisely the snowflakes started, and continued, but had in fact finished at 9am, so whoever anticipated the shout of "stop" wasn't quite right, time-wise.

Gum-tree stripping, yard trashing and no doubt more flying-fox killing weather (poor things and our forests need them). Heading towards 39 deg. C today, which isn’t the warmest we have been having lately :(

So, just a bit different to yours in the U.K!

Where in Oz are you, OlderAussie? I saw in yesterday's paper that the temp in Adelaide, where an old friend lives, had hit 46.6!

Having often endured such temps myself (while living in Oman) I did wince for her.
