It’s been recommended to me that I try a book by someone called Hollinrake/Hollingrake? Thinks published by Novello - to help me with my theory 6.
Can’t find anything likely after googling so I wondered if this rings any bells? Could anyone help me find this?
Or grateful for any other recommendations to help with theory 6!
Thank you!

Despite being written primarily for A-level music, I think by far the clearest modern textbooks on harmony are the Music Harmony Workbooks by Hutgh Benham. Clear explanations and lots of exercises:

Orillion - yes, I think it could be! Thank you very much!

I don't know the books but I'd definitely give Hildegard's recommendations a try before stating on anything else if you've not done much harmony before.
If you play piano Dorothy Pilling's Harmonization of melodies at the keyboard is something I found useful. Though I never did get fluent it helped me to understand harmonic progressions which is very useful for the higher theory grades.

(Oops - just to be clear, it's Hugh rather than Hutgh Benham. Typos are so easy to make .)

Thank you, but in case you hadn't noticed I was not writing a school report on the work of a pupil.

My tip was about writing reports, not about typos. It is why it began with the words "Please don't take this the wrong way" - and certain people then immediately decided to take it the wrong way. It seems a great pity that some people seem to come here to provoke argument.
