Hi everyone, I'm just curious about this.
I've noticed that schools often have instruments that are available for students to use. Where do the schools get these instruments from? What sort of place would they buy them from?

Er, from a shop? Lol.
Seriously, my school has a teeny tiny budget but peris are always on the lookout for good used instruments - for example when a windie upgrades or a string player needs something bigger. All "school" recorders actually belong to me - I have a pool of 4 sizes and advise treble and tenor players to have their own once they really get the bug!
Hope that answers your question

If the school doesn't have instruments available for loan, children can hire instruments from the local music service.

They ask for donations of any spare instruments and then put them in a cupboard, never to be seen again. Not that I'm bitter or anything.... I should have known they'd never actually use them.
