Hi All,

I'm just awaiting my first acoustic piano - could you please give me an idea of the cost of tuning, does it differ much across the country ?

I've been advised to let the piano 'settle' for a few weeks before getting it tuned and then have it retuned approx 6 monthly. Also I live in the south of England so was also wondering about humidity levels here, any advice will be welcome,

Many thanks

Round here an upright is usually £50-£80.

I usually pay £60. I live in London. I too was advised after buying my new piano, to let it settle for a few weeks and then tune six monthly. It took a couple of years for the piano to settle completely and hold its tuning well (it used to go out of tune after a couple of weeks, and it was the same tuner each time so not because of the tuner).

Mine costs £50 (I'm oop north).  My tuner told me I should have it tuned every 6 months for the first few years and then it would be OK annually (it was a new piano a few years ago).

Thanks all, seems £50-£60 is average in the South East.
