It seems from kerioboe's thread that many of us like playing scales so I thought we ought to have our own club smile.gif

Have you got a favourite scale? My favourite scale currently is Bb Major. I quite like G Minor Harmonic as well, but only on the way down wacko.gif biggrin.gif And I still have a soft spot for F Major cos that was my first blush.gif

CE, could I ask you to create this club for us please wink.gif

blush.gif blush.gif I do have a favourite scale, it's E major, and i love it because of the way it makes my fingers feel when i play it wub.gif

I also really enjoy scale and arpeggio exercises, and am currently working my way through the Marcel Moyse 480 exercises on scales and arpeggios. Also, i love to find study books where the composer has written a study for each key smile.gif

Scale lover and proud of it tongue.gif

All scales are lovely, and their arpeggios too.

If I had to pick one, though...D minor harmonic. wub.gif

"There is nothing, absolutely nothing... that is so much fun as messing about on Scales!"

Maybe a slight mis-quote, and possibly debatable (I can think of other fun things blush.gif ) but there can't be many things...

and that is ALL scales!!
No pets, no favourites, I love them all biggrin.gif

My favourite scales are the pointy ones ...

You know, the ones that run all the way down Ianto's spine to the tip of his tail.

laugh.gif Ianto loved that. He says that his favourite scale is E flat major, a favourite amongst the male voice choirs here.

Count me in too. I love scales. My favourites are B major and C melodic minor for the piano and G anything to sing. For the recorder I suppose D melodic minor on C instruments.

Personally I prefer diminished sevenths, but scales are always good too! biggrin.gif

Ooh, that's my favourite, too. Especially on flute . . .

I love scales, used to play them on the piano to the exclusion of anything else sometimes.

One of my daughters loves them too, thinks that the higher grades are better as they have lots of scales to learn. She's looking forward to learning all her grade 5 (AB) violin scales, and grade 6 (Trinity) scales during the summer holiday.
