I'd no idea this existed till I was asked to play for one today. Apparently it dates back to medieval times. There was a real sheep in the church(in a pen) and a milk churn and lots of agricultural prayers. I've played for Harvest Festivals and Rogation Sunday services but this is new to me.

I've never heard of that either. The three Services I played at today were celebrating Epiphany.

Annoyingly, this is the one church I play at where the bell ringers object to me playing when they're ringing, so there was only a brief time to play a voluntary before the service. I could have had a field day(!) thinking of voluntaries. If I'd known the sheep would be there I'd have played Sheep may safely graze.

Or Michael Nyman's "Chasing sheep is best left to shepherds".   :D

Ooh, don't know that one. Agree with the sentiments though!

It's a great piece. One of my favourite Michael Nyman pieces. I find it very uplifting and I have a piano transcription which also works well on the organ. His band performance is here:

I once mistakenly played it at a funeral, not knowing it was a butchers funeral.

Out of interest (I have the piano version) - how did you register/adapt this?
