dorfmouse, I also really like the Pucihar piece and the Mel-Bonis one too for list B. At the moment I'm enjoying the Gluck for list A. I'm really impressed by the choices in the abrsm grade 7 book. Almost spoilt for choice.

Good luck, Jim. Sounds like it's going to be a good evening, with a nice selection of pieces.

Thanks for the good wishes. :)

I don't often get to play solos in orchestra (mainly when the usual 1st flutes are indisposed for some reason), so I'm bound to be a bit nervous. I've pretty well got it all sorted out, but things sometimes crack under pressure....

I am preparing for G8 as well. I decided on Perilhou, Hamburger and Koehler II 8. Not up to speed yet but getting there.

There's no Perilhou on the G8 syllabus - do you mean either the Martinu or the Poulenc?

I like the Hamburger Sonata.  The second movement has one really evil bar, though, which my fingers always forget if I haven't played it for a while!

You are right. Started both I think on the same day. It's of course the Martinu. Love it actually. But page 3 the beginning is mean.
