Hi everyone,

I realise this is a little off topic for Viva Organ, but I reckon you know more about church music down here! I've been working at my piano skills in order to play for my congregation, who currently suffer froms CDs mostly. I'm now at a stage where I can reasonably tackle most of the more modern songs arranged for piano in something like Mission Praise. I still struggle with the ones that are written out in 4 part harmony, which gets a lot of use at my church. Can anyone recommend a book with more suitable piano accompaniments for some of these tunes?

Thank you!

Rosemary

Can't think of one immediately but Kevin Mayhew do a lot of things like organ for manuals and easy arrangements so you might find something on their website.
Have looked and found " easy to play hymn tunes".

An update - I got the Kevin Mayhew book, and my congregation were very happy to have an actual live accompaniment as a change from the CD, despite many wrong notes  :ninja:  I think most don't notice them, or how out of tune the piano is... anyhow, all being well I shall get the piano tuned and continue learning one or two new hymns each week. Wonder how long it'll be before I can manage the whole 5 hymn sandwich... but thank you both again for the recommendation, 'twas spot on!
