Everyone seems to have got such amazing results! Congratulations to you all! I had my G5 singing on Saturday. I'm pleased with my songs and the technical part (an unaccompanied folk song), which I felt were secure and my voice was in good shape. I can't sight-sing to save my life so my aim was to keep it going and at least get the rhythm right. I tried my best but I know it wasn't great. Aural, which I was most worried about, was just dreadful. I'll be surprised if I get more than 10 marks. :(

Just had my report through. Seems I did a lot better on the pieces than I thought - 15/20 each for A & B and 16/20 for C, 14/15 scales, 7/7 discussion, 9/10 sight reading and 8/8 aurals. I have never scored full marks on aurals before, not even at grade 2. smile.png

Did my G8 Music Theatre this afternoon.  It went OK mostly, but, although I didn't consciously feel nervous, I had an incredibly dry mouth throughout and my voice kept cracking.  The sight read and discussion went well, I think, so fingers crossed!

Well done, my daughter is planning on taking her Grade 8 next year some time. What did you sing? She keeps changing her mind.

Thanks, Susiesax.  It is a relief to get it done.  I did:

When You're Good to Mama from Chicago (with libretto extract)

Mein Herr from Cabaret

The Masochism Tango Tom Lehrer

Woman from the Pirate Queen.

They were chosen to fit the theme 'women not to be trifled with' as for G8 you need either a coherent theme or a series of contrasts.

Still waiting for the results.  LCM are usually quite quick.

Hmmm, really disappointed with my G8 result.  I passed, but even with the dry mouth problems, the mark was worse that I (or my teacher, who was accompanying) expected.  The mark sheet will need much analysis, I think.

I'm sorry to hear about your disappointment, Sylvette. It's so deflating after putting all the hard work into the preparation. Do you think you'll challenge the result?
