I’ve just read on ABRSM site that they will be be making changes to scale requirements next syllabus, does anyone know what this might entail? Harder, easier? More, less?
I have a worried adult who is wanting to do grade 8 and is unsure of doing it now or wait to next syllabus but scales are her weakest area.

I'm interested in this too, having now learnt all the current grade 8 scales but for work-related issues I doubt I will be able to go for the exam before 2021... I don't see why these couldn't be advertised as soon as they have been decided upon and separately from the launch of the new pieces in summer 2020.

ABRSM did a consultation a month or so ago.  The proposal is still available on their server:
