Digital certificates – we're introducing secure digital certificates for our exams. Once digital certificates are available in your country, the fees shown below for Practical, Performance and Music Theory Grades will include a digital certificate. Paper certificates will be available to order for £3 or the equivalent in the currency for your country. Find out more about digital certificates and when they start in your country.

Online Music Theory (Grades 1 to 5)
Online Music Theory exams are available on demand. You can book at any time. After booking, candidates have 28 days to take their exam. They can choose any date and time during this period.
Due to system updates taking place, candidates will not be able to take exams on the dates/times below.

Diplomas
Music Performance ARSM – digital exams are available on demand. You can book at any time. You then have 28 days to submit your exam video. For face-to-face exams, see ‘Practical Grades’.
New diplomas from 2024 – you can now book our new Music Performance LRSM and FRSM diplomas. These are digital assessments. You can book at any time. You then have 28 days to submit your performance video and supporting evidence. Our new ARSM, LRSM and FRSM diplomas in Teaching will be available to book from October 2024. We’ll provide more information about the new Directing diplomas when available. All new diplomas will be digital exams, available on demand.

The following charges should be paid direct to ABRSM's office in London by sterling draft presentable in the UK or by credit card (Visa or MasterCard). Sterling drafts should be payable to ‘The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music’.

International transaction fees
Exam booking and cancellation payments made through our online service are international transactions. Your bank, card issuer or PayPal may charge you for processing these transactions. These additional charges and any foreign exchange rate applied to the transaction are made by your bank, card issuer or PayPal and not by ABRSM. Charges will vary, depending on the payment method and the bank or institution you use to make the payment.
