About Ensemble exams
We offer syllabuses for a wide range of ensembles, from duos and trios upwards. These are a face-to-face exams.
Why take an Ensemble exam?
Playing and singing with other musicians is a wonderful way to learn about and enjoy music. Our Ensemble exams are open to musicians of any age and are available at three levels:
- Initial – for candidates of around Grade 4 to 5 standard
- Intermediate – for candidates of around Grade 6 to 7 standard
- Advanced – for candidates of around Grade 8 standard
In the exam the ensemble members perform a programme of at least two pieces chosen from the repertoire lists. You can find full details, including exam requirements, repertoire and assessment information, in the Ensembles Syllabus, available to download on this page.
