New Performance diplomas - full details available now

Diplomas are the perfect way to continue your musical journey beyond Grade 8. The redeveloped LRSM and FRSM diplomas are advanced-level digital qualifications that follow on from our current ARSM to provide a clear progression route for performers.   

Our new suite of diplomas and their Regulatory Qualification Framework levels are:  

- ARSM – Level 4, equivalent to the end of the first year of an undergraduate course  
- LRSM – Level 6, equivalent to the end of the final year of an undergraduate course  
- FRSM – Level 7, equivalent to the end of a postgraduate course  

What’s new? 

- Designed to focus on the specialist skills needed in the performing arts sector 
- A wealth of music to choose from with nearly 1000 new pieces added to the repertoire lists 
- Candidates can play up to 50% own-choice repertoire in their performance, crafting a programme to suit their interests and talents
- More choice of subject matter and format for the supporting evidence 

How does it work? 

For both diplomas candidates submit a video of their live performance, recorded in one continuous take in a venue of their choice, with or without an audience. This is complemented by a piece of written or spoken supporting evidence.  

Candidates must have passed Grade 8 to enter any diploma. On-demand booking and digital assessment will be available worldwide from April 2024.
