Booking is open for our new Performance diplomas
Our new digital LRSM and FRSM diplomas in Music Performance are now available to book worldwide. Book online at any time then submit your performance video and supporting evidence within the next 28 days.
There are no changes to our ARSM Performance diploma which is still available as a face-to-face or digital exam.
The new diplomas focus on practical performance skills, knowledge and understanding
We assess these diplomas from a video of your performance (Unit 1) and a piece of supporting evidence (Unit 2).
LRSM requirements
- Unit 1: Your Performance – a video recording of your 45-minute performance
- Unit 2: Performance in Context – written or spoken (video) evidence with a choice of four topics
FRSM requirements
- Unit 1: Your Performance – a video recording of your 55-minute performance
- Unit 2: Research and Reflection – written or spoken (video) evidence linked to your performance
We’ve designed the new diplomas to provide choice and flexibility, and to be relevant to today’s musicians
- There’s a wide choice of repertoire – with options for own-choice music, different kinds of accompaniment, and playing with or without an audience.
- You can provide your supporting evidence in a language of your choice – with an English translation.
- We’ve simplified the entry requirements – for both LRSM and FRSM the entry requirement is a Grade 8 Practical Grade or Performance Grade in your diploma subject.
- Assessment is by a specially-trained diploma examiner – your examiner will be a musician from our Performance diploma panel.
