Music Performance ARSM

Introducing the ARSM in Music Performance

Associate of the Royal Schools of Music

Booking closure – due to planned maintenance, booking for digital ARSM Performance diplomas will be closed from 21.00 on 3 March to 00.00 on 6 March (UK times). We’re sorry for any inconvenience this causes.

Our ARSM diploma in Music Performance provides an opportunity for learners beyond Grade 8 to create and perform an extended programme of music and demonstrate their performance skills. You can choose from taking a face-to-face exam or a digital exam assessed from a video recording.

Examiners assess candidates on their musical communication skills, interpretation and technical delivery. They award marks for the presentation of pieces or songs and for the performance as a whole.

Full details are available in the qualification specification and repertoire lists, available to download on this page.

FAQs
I passed my Grade 8 a long time ago. Is it still valid as a prerequisite?

Yes, there are no time limits on the validity of the Grade 8 prerequisite.

Do I need to send my Grade 8 certificate to you as part of the application?

No, but we may ask for a copy of the certificate or other supporting documentation. If you cannot provide this or we find that you don’t have the correct qualification, we will cancel the exam booking without refunding the fee.
